"Freedom of Flight" Collection shoot

The collection of textiles I have been creating for the final major project of my Textile Design degree is based on themes of flight, wings, freedom, aircrafts, flocks, etc.

I have created and am continuing to develop fashion accessories, textile jewellery and garments in a kingfisher colour pallette, inspired by flight!

I did a shoot of some of the collection so far today. My friend Leah, modelled for me, and working in fashion herself was great helping with styling etc. Leah's blog - http://patricia-kate.blogspot.com

I don't want to give too much of my collection away at this point before my big launch at my university degree show in June (http://www.dmu.ac.uk/faculties/art_and_design/degree-show/index.jsp)...

.....so here's a little sneaky peek at the shoot styling.

It was my birthday last week and a very special present from my parents, plus an addition from my brother and his fiance :)
My beautiful new Panasonic Lumix FZ45 has arrived!

It's not even been a week and I've been a little bit inseperable!
I've already captured some amazing images from the easter bank holiday weekend. Mainly around Lea Valley canal, Berkhamstead and my garden.

I can't wait to use it more in practice ready for my trip to South Africa later this summer!

Professional shoot of 2 accessory setups from my collection

Two accessory outfits from my collection were featured in a professional photoshoot set up at my university today.
The first included 4 accessory neck pieces, and the second featured my two large scale metal pieces.
I was so lucky to have had this opportunity to work with professional model and fashion photographer Fabrice Lachant who has featured in top fashion campaigns and publications, including last month's Vogue Italia.

Amazing day! What an experience.

Here's a sneaky peek one on set this morning....

I can't wait to see the professional image(s)when it/they are edited and ready!

My work was also shown for a similar shoot for graduate fashion week. I'm hoping some pieces were chosen, watch this space!

Flight collection taking shape

I am currently establishing my final collection, focusing on accessories and adornments for the body.

Based on themes of flight, my textiles are forming into products and I'm getting very excited about the prospect of working these up for my degree show exhibition at De Montfort University 18th-23rd June 2011.

Here's a little hint of how the collection is shaping up.....
